DivX Inc., which makes digital video compression software, said Thursday it will be added to the Russell 3000 Index and the small-cap Russell 2000 Index on Dec. 15.
The Russell 3000 index, run by Russell Investment Group, tracks the 3,000 largest U.S. companies, ranked by market capitalization.
The Russell 2000 is an index of the 2,000 smallest of the Russell 3000 companies, and is also known as the smallcap index.
Stocks added to indexes often see share prices jump as mutual funds that track those indexes rework their portfolios.
DivX's market capitalization, calculated by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the share price, was recently $951.9 million, according to Thomson Financial.
Shares of the company added 25 cents to $28.65 in premarket trading, after closing at $28.40 Wednesday on the Nasdaq.
